Private historical journey: Temples of Dendera and Abydos
If you would like to avoid huge tourist crowds and are looking for Egypt’s most hidden and best-preserved ancient treasures, this private tour is for you. Together with our Egyptologist guide and a private car/minibus, we set off on a journey where you can explore history entirely at your own pace.
Detailed itinerary of the program:
5:00 – Departure: Your private guide will pick you up at your hotel, and we will begin our journey towards Dendera.
8:30 – Dendera (Temple of Hathor): We arrive at one of the best-preserved temple complexes of ancient Egypt. Dendera is dedicated to Hathor, the goddess of love, music, and happiness. The interior of the temple is breathtaking: the massive columns and the astronomical ceiling paintings still shine in their original colors today. Here you can also see the famous monumental relief depicting Queen Cleopatra.
Abydos (Temple of Seti I): We continue our journey to Abydos, which was considered one of the holiest pilgrimage sites for the ancient Egyptians (similar to the importance of Mecca for Muslims today). They believed that a pilgrimage here ensured an easier passage into the afterlife. The temple was started by Pharaoh Seti I and completed by his son, the famous Ramses II. Here you can also find the famous Abydos King List, where the names of the pharaohs were carved.
20:00 – Return: After a full and exclusive day, we return to your hotel in Hurghada around 8:00 PM.
